Google has changed the way users search for data through the millions of web pages scattered over the vast network called "The Internet". Google was one of the first successful search engines to be created at the time. It became very popular through "word-of-mouth" at the time. Later, when Google was featured in "PC Magazine" and was listed as one of the top 100 sites of 1998, it popularity skyrocketed. Google has been known to give very relevant results, which has been a factor on it's success. One of the biggest factors making Google so successful is all the different services that they have. Google has grown from offering search results to giving you directions to a location or allowing you to write and store documents online. One of their most successful services is Google Earth. Google Earth allows the users to browse satellite images of the earth and look at pictures of the streets using Google Streetview. Almost all of the services provided by Google are free and are available to anyone with a computer. One of the lesser things that might have made Google successful is humor. Every year Google has a April Fools prank on their website. One year had Google Mentalplex, a service that was supposed to be able to read your mind and search for what you wanted. I believe that Google is successful because of the way it has changed society. When we are looking for something on the internet, We don't usually say " I going to go look for -blank- using a search engine." Instead, we say " I going to go Google -blank-. Google has changed the way we speak in reference to search engines. Google has become one of the new english slang words. One of the major reasons they are successful is their Adwords service(Picture at top of page). Adwords delivers ads to your search results based on what you searched for. If you were to search for computer parts, Adwords would show ads of computer parts in the sidebar.
